Learn Slovenian in Slovenia

The Začetna integracija priseljencev (ZIP) program is designed to help certain immigrants learn Slovenian and acquire knowledge that facilitates their integration into society.

The training lasts up to 180 hours and combines practical language learning with content related to daily life in Slovenia.

In certain circumstances, if the participant does not achieve the expected results within those hours, they may be entitled to additional training.

Who can access it for free?

The possibility of participating for free depends on each person’s immigration status.

Those who may be eligible for the program include certain citizens of countries that are not part of European Union citizens with temporary or permanent residence in Slovenia, as well as other groups covered by integration regulations. For this reason, before looking for a center, it is important to check if you meet the requirements to receive the certificate that allows access to the program. What will you learn during the course?

The goal is not solely to study grammar. The program aims to develop Slovenian language skills applicable to real-life situations and, at the same time, help participants gain a better understanding of Slovenian society. During the training, you can develop skills related to: Everyday conversations.

Listening comprehension of Slovenian. Reading and writing. Practical vocabulary.

Communication in social situations. Understanding Slovenian society and life. How do I apply?

The first step isn’t simply showing up at a language school. Interested individuals should verify their eligibility to participate in the program and request the corresponding certificate from the competent administrative unit in their place of residence. Once eligibility is confirmed, participants can contact one of the selected providers to find out when the courses start and which places are available.

Frequently Asked Questions Is the Slovenian course really free? Yes, for those who meet the established conditions for free participation in the ZIP program. Free participation does not mean that any tourist or visitor can enroll at no cost.

How long does it last? The ZIP program includes up to 180 hours of training. In certain cases, additional hours may be available when the participant needs to continue their learning.

Is it just a language course? No. The program combines Slovenian language learning with content designed to provide a better understanding of Slovenian society and facilitate integration.
